    Myers and Sons Construction, LP is a heavy construction company located in Sacramento, California. The company focuses on concrete construction, including bridge work, concrete overlays, concrete paving, water treatment plants, pump stations as well as other concrete related projects and both for Caltrans and other public agencies. Myers and Sons Construction was founded and is managed by C.C. Myers. Myers and Sons is also part of the Sterling Construction Company group of families.


    We are seeking an experienced Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Coordinator for an exciting $330 million dollar design build joint venture we have undertaken at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This project is part of LAX’s Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP) which will lessen traffic around the airport by providing passengers and employees additional transportation options to access airport facilities. The SBE Coordinator helps to ensure proper utilization of subcontractors, vendors and suppliers in accordance with the Project's contractual requirements. This position will establish and maintain strong internal and external relationships with multiple project stakeholders to accomplish objectives.



    Essential Functions

    • Assist subcontractors, suppliers and vendors with information on obtaining certifications.
    • Maintain copies of subcontractor, supplier and vendor certification documents, and track expiration dates of certifications.
    • Update and maintain the Buyout Log on a monthly basis.
    • Prepare Subcontractor Utilization Report (SUR) entailing subcontractor, vendor and supplier payments to Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Procurement Services Division.
    • Transmit signed copies of subcontracts to LAWA.
    • Submit requests to add new subcontractors, suppliers and vendors for LAWA's approval.
    • Prepare monthly prompt payment tracking to LAWA.
    • Update and maintain the B2G database of Project subcontractors, suppliers and vendors.
    • Work with Preconstruction Manager, Procurement Manager, Estimators and Bid Coordinator on a daily basis.
    • Participate in Bid Openings.
    • Verify certification status of subcontractors.
    • Attend preconstruction meetings with subcontractors.
    • Assist with resolving issues with subcontractors.
    • Assist subcontractors, vendors and suppliers with information on education and training opportunities, and other resources.
    • Host outreach events to promote upcoming projects and other opportunities for subcontractors, vendors and suppliers.
    • Attend industry related events to meet potential subcontractors, suppliers and vendors.
    • Assist with other duties as assigned.


    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.

    • Understanding of SBE requirements.
    • Strong computer skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Suite - particularly Excel.
    • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, LAWA personnel, as well as with Project team members.
    • Ability to establish and maintain strong professional relationships.
    • Ability to perform a variety of tasks, work independently and meet deadlines.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.



    • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an SBE role in a construction environment. 




    • Minimum of 2 years of college or equivalent experience.
