    Myers and Sons Construction, LP is a heavy construction company located in Sacramento, California. The company focuses on concrete construction, including bridge work, concrete overlays, concrete paving, water treatment plants, pump stations as well as other concrete related projects and both for Caltrans and other public agencies. Myers and Sons Construction was founded and is managed by C.C. Myers. Myers and Sons is also part of the Sterling Construction Company group of families.

    We are looking for a Safety Coordinator for our job at LAX airport in Los Angeles. This position works under general supervision, conducts safety audits and inspections, and evaluates and ensures improvement for job site safety. Usually will be assigned to a large projects or several smaller projects within a region or division. Works with the Superintendents and Project Managers to administer, direct, and implement compliance with the Corporate Safety and Health policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of Company standard operating procedures and goals for Safety and Health.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinates worksite safety activities.
    • Enforces safety rules.
    • Reports on a weekly and monthly basis to the Safety Manager regarding the status of safety inspections.
    • Advises management on safety issues.
    • Conducts safety meetings.
    • Discusses safety issues in superintendent meeting and staff meeting.
    • Analyzes worksite safety needs.
    • Timely investigation of injuries and accidents and coordinates with Safety Manager and/or Risk Management take pictures and witness statements.
    • Conducts job hazard analyses.
    • Establishes and maintains a good working relationships with field management.
    • Conducts safety inspections and audits, work site inspections.
    • Trains employees in the safety aspects of their jobs.
    • Conducts safety orientation for new hires.
    • Reviews Equipment Inspection book and make sure they are current.
    • Ensures all job site bulletin boards are complete.
    • Enforces documentation on the proper training of employees as related to their scope of work.
    • Conducts training for OSHA 10 or 30 Hour, HAZWOPER, and other Safety related topics
    • Regional travel required.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent experience.
    • 1+ years of field safety management experience in the Construction Industry.
    • Knowledge of construction safety.
    • Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, provincial, local and company regulations and the ability to locate them as needed.
    • Must at a minimum have an active Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) credential and five years of vertical, tunnel or heavy civil construction experience.
